Ride: A Sunday in Heck
Date: June 7
Distance: 13.89
Cyclists: Mike
As part of my hip recovery I have been taking frequent, short rides. I have come up with a lovely Sunday ride...up through the University and down to Willows Beach, where I sit and drink water and look at boats. Due to some dicey weather during the week I was looking forward to my first ride in 7 days. And guess what? It was convocation at UVic. The campus was a huge traffic jam. I threaded my way through and headed for the beach. Phew! When I got within a half kilometer I started to notice the streets were parked up and cars were prowling around looking for parking spaces...and not looking for cyclists. Yes, it was the fucking Oak Bay Tea Party. An event which is much loved and obviously well attended. I've never been. I hate crowds. So after a couple of close calls and an unplanned detour, I got out of the mess and headed home.
