Because of the congestion downtown on my last ride, I decided to avoid most of it.  I think, due to Canadians avoiding the U.S. this summer, we have had more tourists than I have ever seen.  Combine that with the last week of school vaction, which has apparently gotten families out for their sole bike ride of the year, the bike paths are congested.

So a different route.  I headed up the galloping goose, which was a very good choice due to the pair of young female roadies I was behind for a couple of kilometers.  I considered passing them but chose not to.  Soon after they turned off on Interurban I left the trail too...to Portage Park.

Then a brisk 22 minute ride to Saxe Point where a picturesque schooner was sailing by.  I stopped down at the Songees and took a photo of downtown.  Then a bagel stop and home to eat them.
