Bike shopping 1

I headed off to Bikes and Beyond to ride a bike or two. My first ride was the Gary Fisher Cobia 29er. I've been reading a lot about 29ers vs regular 26" wheel mountain bikes. And what I read was true...the wheels roll over everything. I rode down a quiet street in Elmwood rolling over one curb and then the other. It was amazing. To compare I then took out a very comparable 26" Trek 6000 Disc. The ride was harsh and jarring in comparison. I sure knew I was going over a curb. Plus the bike felt unstable and way too race oriented for me.
